125 days of giving – Barnes Roffe charity impact

As you may have seen from our announcement earlier in the year alongside our fun new logo, 2024 marks Barnes Roffe’s 125th year anniversary.

Established in 1899, Barnes Roffe have grown significantly during its history, and continues to go from strength to strength. To read more about our anniversary and the history of us, check out our anniversary blog post.

To mark our anniversary, we wanted to do something for charity that wasn’t just a onetime experience. After brainstorming and thinking of ways we could make a difference, we came up with an ongoing project that will hopefully reach all corners of London and the outer counties, continuing to aid throughout 2024 and 2025.

What is ‘125 Days of Giving’?

We have been asking and encouraging our team members to actively help and support a cause they truly care about in whatever way they can. Each act classes as a day of ’giving’. Our target is that by the end of our anniversary year, our team members collectively reach 125 days of doing something good, for those more in need than ourselves.

What classes as ‘Giving’?

Our definition of ‘giving’ is essentially any act that helps or supports a cause our team members care about. For example, giving could be:

  • Volunteering
  • Community aid
  • Sponsored events
  • Charity fundraising
  • Donating goods/food/money to shelters/charity
  • Donating blood
  • Becoming an organ donor

And that is just touching the surface! No matter how big or small, we know that if each of our staff members went out of their way to do one good act each, we could make a huge difference to our community.

So what is Barnes Roffe doing to help?

Barnes Roffe wanted to have more collaborative approach to charity and community projects in order to support and help our team in a much more effective way. By encouraging and recording these acts, we are learning more about the compassion and selflessness of our team and can help and support individuals and a wider range of great causes! We have been sharing their stories across our socials and through internal channels, having open conversations about their efforts from graduate to partner level, and contributing and raising money for a wide range of charities.

Who have we helped so far?

The charities we have helped so far include…

  • Mind
  • The British Heart Foundation
  • Heart Valve Voice
  • Sarcoma UK
  • Leytonstone Food Bank
  • Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity
  • Unmask Cancer
  • Counselling Matters Bexley
  • Colchester and Ipswich Hospital Charity

…plus so much more, and the list keeps growing!

Some of our acts of giving

The East London Office

A group of team members from the East London office organised and hosted a charity golf day for a few of their clients and prospects. The day was a great success and the team managed to raise over £3,000 for The British Heart Foundation, Sarcoma UK and Heart Valve Voice.

Jamie Henderson, Partner

Jamie ran in the Thames Ultra Marathon to raise money for Mind. He ran an impressive 100km to help spread awareness and the message of mental health. After championing the race, he managed to raise over £2,200!

Lizzy Heath, Credit Controller

Lizzy volunteered at multiple events as a mascot to help raise money for a variety of charities in her spare time, included Counselling Matters Bexley and Unmask Cancer Charity. Moreover, she’s on her 20th donation of blood this month to help the NHS!

Victoria Fletcher, Senior Marketing Executive

Victoria has been giving away goods such as clothes, furniture, and toiletries to the residence of Chelmsford via Olio. Olio is a mobile app for giving away, borrowing or lending things in your community for free, aiming to reduce household and food waste, and helping those more in need.
